What is Applied Kinesiology (AK)?

A holistic approach (also known as muscle testing) that goes beyond just addressing musculoskeletal issues. Applied Kinesiology is a diagnostic technique which assesses the strength and function of specific muscles. The doctor applies gentle pressure to a specific muscle while asking the patient to resist against it. The doctor then observes the muscle’s response, which can range from strong resistance to weak or “giving way” easily.

A strong muscle response is interpreted as a normal function. A weak response can be an indicator of neuromuscular imbalances, structural misalignments, nutritional deficiencies, and emotional disturbances that may be contributing to pain or dysfunction. Therefore, treatment plans address not just the presenting symptoms but also any underlying contributing factors. This allows personalized treatment based on each patients unique needs which helps to tailor adjustments to those imbalances and identified needs.
